Assessment Video- Part 1
I must say that I definitely found the first portion of the video (insert video title) to be very interesting. What I found to be most intriguing was the amount of time which the presenters took to stress the difference between diagnosis and assessment. While it may seem very obvious when being pointed out I think that this is a point that frequently gets over looked. What is most important for people in the education field who are involved in assessments and are part of such a team to remember is that it is not our job to give the child a label. That is the job of doctors to provide medical diagnosis. It is our job to use these assessments to identify a student's strengths and weaknesses. By identifying these things, the educational team can then determine what services a child needs and develop the best plan possible to further the child's education.
