Over the next two weeks, we will be viewing and critiquing
a video from the M.I.N.D. Institute at the University of California at Davis. This institute has been engaged in some
of the most interesting and cutting edge research on the causes, assessment and treatment of autism currently being conducted in the
country. You will be viewing a one hour
video in two parts. The first half of the video focuses on autism assessment instruments, and the
second half focuses on naturalistic assessment and integrating the results of the two types of assessments.
This week, please watch the first half of the following video up to the 37:25
minute marker.
Please comment on the
speaker's review of autism assessment instruments. Please include in your critique commentary on
the speakers’ comments that teachers do not diagnose, but collect data and
translate it into educational needs, and the statement that the most important
part of the assessment is the person conducting the assessment.
Keep in mind the
formal instruments and tests you use when you write your critique. Next week
you will be viewing the second half of the video and commenting on naturalistic
assessment. Feel free to comment on the postings of your colleagues. I'm looking forward to reading your posts and comments.
